I think the title is clear enough, so there's no need for additional explanation.

Actually, I was about to post a topic suggesting something about that matter.
I'm assuming this is the topic? ?

As for my vote, I think it really depends on the plot. While I prefer the whole 1 month thing, I also know that if there's nothing in it to keep us perverts involve, we can lose interest pretty easily. So I would suggest sticking with adding as much "treats" as you can before the game version ends.

You assume wrong. Check "Troubleshooting", since there's no other suitable subforum to post that.

But there's also the problem that if you take too long, us perverts will lose interest and unsub (if we're subbed anywhere). So, if I were a developer, I'd keep the interest going with more frequent updates. Sure, the new content probably wouldn't be much but it will keep our interest into the game and our hands going.

Yup. I saw it. :ROFLMAO: Realized it when I read it. Haha.

Seems like your poll has an excluded middle option. I prefer decent-sized updates that don't take 6 months over both small updates that come out every month or faster, and huge updates that take 6+ months. ~2 months for a good solid couple hours of content is about the sweet spot for me, though I support some devs who are significantly shorter/faster, and some who are significantly longer/slower. It's all about the quality to time ratio.

I guess it depends on dev goal. If it's just a hobby and you don't care about your AVNs popularity all that much or how much money you make from it then whatever "feels right" (usually a chapter at a time, even when it's long and takes 18 months like Light of My Life/Naughty Road). If it's your day job then monthly, with the story planned around that (ie Guilty Pleasure/Quonix, anything from Daniels K). Reason being that gives no time for people to unsub (most only sub when an update is released) so sub numbers tend to go up like crazy (thousands, not hundreds). Personally I prefer that as well, since 1 month is quick enough I don't need to try too hard trying to remember what was happening the previous month (ideally an hour or so of content, but that's a tall order for a solo dev). Longer than 3 months and I tend to forget what was happing with the MC, choices made, etc. Longer than 6 and I tend to forget the AVN even exists (LOML I just stayed subbed at $1 to keep up with progress).

small updates often seem to be the best choice because in the end it will come to the same thing

At the end of the day it's worth waiting for a game as long as necessary for it to be a quality update, but I do like devs like Blackheart where their games are usually updated every 3 months or so. Games like Being a Dik having a year+ dev cycle for every update is a little ridiculous. That game won't be finished for another 5-6 years at minimum.

Large bi-monthly updates are the best option. You get more content instead of small updates with very little
content. Then again it all depends because you lose supporters if you don't release enough updates as well.

Monthly updates are ok for me. Better than updating every six months

The dev that makes being a dik (Dr. Pink Cake) still has a ridiculous amount of supporters, probably the biggest AVN and it's dev cycle has gotten to the point where it takes over a year for one update. So that isn't always true. I hate to trash him because it is a good game but I just can't believe it's not possible for him to hire a small team and drastically reduce the dev cycle. He makes so much money from Patreon, like he has to easily be making six figures with over 12,000 paid subs.

I was about to mention bdik, I lost interest in this game, I think there should be more short games to be played in a single day. with this pace bdik will end in like 20 years and by then AI and technologies will change a lot, I may not even be here, how people can suport a project that will not be finished?

Frequent updates and long 6+ month updates both have problems. The 6+ month updates almost never feel satisfying for how long it's been. The monthly updates normally feel too short. Monthly used to be good, but higher render requirements have seemed to make monthly updates become small unless there is a huge team making the game. Maybe starting off with like 2 months for a new game to get attention, and then switching to 3-4 months could be good.

Yeah it's crazy, being a dik might not even be finished by 2030. I really don't know how so many people still give him money every month, and the worst part is his dev updates are always so extremely vague and don't give you any sort of idea how far along he is in the dev cycle. Plus the dev bans even people that pay to support him if they criticize his game at all, he creates an echo chamber where only positive feedback is allowed.

Answer yourself bud
making six figures

if he got a staff a cut would have to go to them and if the dev cycle was faster the game would be done sooner meaning an end to the gravy train of working for a month for a yearly 6 figure salary. the longer the cycle the longer he lives a very comfortable life for little work.
He makes more money then a normal dev does at a "AAA" studio would make and does maybe 5% of the work that those guys are required to do
so why would he ruin that?

I hate multiple playthroughs, the different paths aren't that different, so it's never worth it. bdik was a game that I had a save for each path but in the last few updates it got tiring with so many unnecessary minigames and dialogues that took forever, with so many possibilities and characters it's impossible for this to have an actual ending

yeah you are probably right, which is why I have zero guilt when I pirate his game. Him being a complete asshole and banning anybody that has constructive criticism of his game just reinforces that even more.

My favorite character in that game was actually Heather. I thought the dynamic between her and MC where she was a bitch to him but you could tell she secretly got turned on by him was really hot. Wanted a storyline where MC cucks that annoying ass character Tommy and hate fucks Heather so good that she goes from being a complete bitch to MC to being a submissive slut for him. Sadly he completely ruined her character in the latest update.
