Thinking on 2D adult rpg games. What is the type of combat you would like to have?
I'm planning on making a game and combat is something important because of both story and the rpg mechanics such as stats and equipment. Right now, I'm leaning to do some turn based combat, likely a jrpg model such as the old final fantasy games. I don't want you to mistake the style I'm seeking for one of the turn based combat that most gacha games have in nutaku... to me, that model is just dumb and a waste of time.

The best turn based combat I've played in an adult game would be in Monster Girl 1,000.

Either a good sidescroller or topdown (think 2d zelda) are going to be the most technically advanced but probbably the most under represented kind of game. JRPGs especially those made in RPGM are kind of a dime a dozen. At that point I'd say the combat becomes more of an annoyance than gameplay. I dont really like much other combat in games especially in games where combat isnt the goal if that make sense.

Scroller are shit. Either free movement or turn based, everything else is just annoying.

I'm of the opinion that a good combat system is always based on what it's supposed to express in the context of the game. (Except in games that are literally just the combat system, which is where it's self-expressive)

So I would either a develop a combat system that suites the kind of game I want to make. (What's the game about? How can I express this through combat? How can I reflect the rest of the game in the combat system?)
Or I would decide on a game with narrative and themes that fits the combat system that I want to base it on. (What kind of story, gameplay, game feeling would match my combat system best?)

None...
But if I had to choose one, it would be turn based, where you don't need to react fast and could play one handed.

trpg stuff like Xcom, Fire Emblem, or Wargroove, I wanna spend 5 min staring at a board and looking at ranges before moving anything

When it comes to combat most h-games are so lackluster that it doesn't even make much more a difference when it comes to combat types. Side scrollers tend to be full of jank and are stiffer than a grandmas' back, while rpgs have combat sort of just there to be autoed. So I don't think it makes too much difference for most people here as our expectations are already so low for these games.

However, if you are really interested in making a fun battle system in the h-game genre then I would recommend looking at two games in particular. Night of Revenge is a side scroller with fun gameplay, some great bosses, good exploration and a large variety of different weapons. Also, in my personal opinion the way it has you come across monster taking advantage of miscellaneous girls in the background and corners of the map is a great way to reward exploration in a way fitting for a h-game.

On the other hand, Black Souls 2 is simply a phenomenal rpg in general, let alone a h-game. I fully recommend playing it if you want to see what you can do with the RPGM engine when you know what you are doing. Its one of the only h-games that I've actually seen people do challenge runs of just for the sake of having fun with the combat system. For me in particular, the DLC 3 bosses are great bosses that use a sort of puzzle mechanic that take full advantage of the player already being experienced with the game.

So anyways, I wrote a shit ton and didn't really answer you question, but I hope it helps regardless.

I like the ones, that don't drain me of all my resources, not too much. I like how some games can specify how often you encounter enemies. But then if it's not in the interest of the game, not really interested in combating, it takes so much time.

Personally I prefer turn-based combats, particularly the deckbuilding kind where I'm deciding my movepool ahead of time and looking for/creating opportunities to use them when the fight starts. But the real answer is this:

Your combat mechanics, story, and setting should complement each other.

I like something similar to Fire emblems combat.

If you mean like a porn game, best one I've played was Arenus.
Very fun. Quite lewd. I had actual fun time with the combat.
Turn based is fun as long as I don't have to click through 300 different menus to do a singular action.

Turn based, but under no circumstances based on RPGM.

Turn based if combat is relevant to the story. However, generally I avoid altogether (unless the synopsis pulls me in).

None. Doesn't belong in adult games.

Death by tire iron or other improvised weapons. Then again, you'd also need a plausible explanation about WHY you're having to fight in an adult game anyway. I've played some adult games with QTE in Renpy and they weren't all that. If you're going to add fighting, at least make it fun and the protagonist OP. Example: Amity Park. I hate grinding, so I max out attack as fast as possible to 1-3 shot the enemies so I can get back to fapping. That is, unless I've already installed a gallery un-locker and just go straight to the replay.
