So how much does an average Dev make on their games, is it even worth it to go through all the hassle of making a game?

I think if you want to make money you dont start making games, you get a job.

But there are some devs who are making a lot, you can check patreon or subscribestar and guess

Probably not enough.
Erotic game developers deserve living wages too!

No, I agree it's definitely a hobby and not a way to make a living.

it will need motivation , creativity, and consistency...
afterall, it required supports from the audiences (money).

At first, you don't make much. Think of it as investment for future. Over span of 2-3 years you can EASILY make it your job as long as your advertising is good enough. Alongside good visuals and story.
You work your main job... or work on the game if you're unemployed but financially secure.
Over time accumulate enough people to actually make it your main job.

THEN pump out updates. My personal go-to are developers who manage to deliver updates on 3-4 month basis. Anything above that without proper explanation on why its taking long is a bordering milking scheme.

Most likely not much. It's the same with youtubers/streamers. You look at the ones at the top and see how much you could be making, but it's akin to looking at someone who won the lottery and thinking "That could be me".

On average? Zero.

The majority makes nothing.
Some make a few bucks, nothing more than pocket money.
A few earn something similar to an actual low paying job,
And there are ony a handfull that actually make big money.

Truth be told, the variance is drastic.
Some who make decent games, don't make shit for money. Some....make a shit ton....
Then there are some that are in a class by themselves. I forget the name, but there's a dev team out there making a game that last I checked was pulling in more money than a lot of people make in a year....every month. Still active...it's a monster/furry game...I think it was in Unreal engine.

That game currently has almost 12k subs on Patreon alone.

Average is super small. A lot of people make games and never see a dime, most end up abandoned. I will assume of developers making regular updates it's higher. It also depends on cost of living where you live as even modest amounts of USD can be worth continuing a game compared to local jobs.

I will agree, I wouldn't start making games for the money. Make art because you have no other choice

You shall come with a decent idea and have some skills in 3d and python at least. To make it good you also need to have experience in afterwork (f.e Photoshop) and animations ( Video editor).
If you dont have experience in none, you need at least 1 year to be able to gain what it takrs and even after that it's just 1% of game devs who reach the 1k/month Mark.

as with any creative process, start doing it because you enjoy doing it, not for the money. with time, if what you do is good (or if you find a group of people without a market that caters to them, very poor taste and a lot of disposable income) people will try to give you money for it

if you cater to a specific fetish you can have an explosive growth like PF and make a lot of money but most developers take years to get to a point where you are making enough money to do it as a full time job

I guess some like the Summertime Saga guy could make a lot (even with no progress lol), but most earn fuck all

Many devs make their games in their spare time, that only goes to prove that the average income that is generated is not enough to give up the day job. As for is it worth it? That all depends on the individual.
