First, I'll say that I'm not an expert.

Second I'll say I'm not after coins.

But I do feel compelled to say that I've seen a few posts that are "Willy-nilly" towards VPN's...

I get it... They cost money, and if you are doing nothing wrong then why...?

There are so many reasons people...!

First is personal safety and privacy! I don't know about you all but I personally don't want anyone to track back to any degree of my internet history! (We all know why, it might not be sinister, but there are social implications...!)

Second, Government surveillance is a real thing folks! I don't care where in the world you are, someone, somewhere, is trying to watch you!

Third, your own personal identity security! Identity theft is real people! I have been a victim of this once before! It sucks!!! Big time!!!

Folks, protect yourself if you can... A VPN is a a solid layer of security! Don't discount it for your own sake!!!

It never occurred to me about impacting search results! Good comment!

I do use a VPN wherever possible, I am finding now some sites are detecting my VPN and sometimes get blocked because its in use, chat rooms are one that VPN's are blocked.

Proud Father's developer didnt use VPN😬

You should know that most of the time vpns don't improve your security at all, HTTPS has been standard for a long time and the only thing your isp should be able to see is the hostname of the website you visit and event this is going away thanks to cloudflare.
If you don't want to be tracked a vpn will help but not much, look into browser fingerprinting and websites like "amiunique", your browser can usually be tracked across different networks.
For most people, the only real use of a vpn is bypassing region locking and hiding your actual IP from the website you visit.

Well... amiunique is kinda frighting..., but some of the info seems incorrect, and I stand by my opinion that VPN's serve a very important purpose in keeping us all safe.

I mostly use VPN for changing locations and access to otherwise unavailable content

I use it mostly for the geo-lock bypass and whenever I need to download Linux .ISOs over the p2p.

Could always use both VPN and DNS "pihole or adguard" but VPN can see what you do and depending on company they might sell it to anyone....
