For those of you who translate games (i.e. Russian to English), is there something you are using to speed up the process, or are you going into the file itself and changing line for line? I'm not planning on translating games or anything but I am curious how it works.

It depends on the game engine. Certain tools exist for RPGM like Translator++, Unity Auto Translator, and many others. These tools can be used to speed up translation either by auto translating which needs later correction, or allowing translation of individual segments of text.

I am very thankful for my english to russian translator. First he doesn't use any auto translating tools so I can be sure that he translate it in a good way and he also translates text in my pictures. He is a pure gem going this extra mile for the russian people.

many people use textractor. there is also room for an honorable mention of LunaTranslator, which lets you use an AI model, local or online, to hook into the game or read the text through OCR. i believe textractor is not compatible with RPG-M games unless you use additional tools. OCR can work for anything, but it is down to how good the AI is and also is a little annoying to use. OCR is more-so for consuming the game rather than translating it in my opinion.
