Trainer Games!

So guys why do you love or hate ( don't like) trainer games?

I am personally not liking trainer games so far (literally had to delete them before even reaching halfway) and I am thinking about excluding it from my seek tags altogether but before doing that I'd like to know if I'd be missing something major or is it not worth it anyway which means I should definitely exclude it from my tags?

Is it in anyone's exclusion list already?

I like it.

My only problem was with Slave Lord - Realms of bondage, where at the end of the game I tried very hard to save the princess and I still failed and got NTR'ed. So a bunch of grinding spent time and still failed. I got pissed of and deleted the game.

I think trainer games are FAR more popular than most VN style games the thing that many people don't like about the trainer games are the repetition and grind needed to get all the content in many of those games. Trainer games appear to take more work than a Novel style game where often updates are just measured in number of renders where trainers add new areas, gameplay, etc.

I am curious what someone would consider a trainer game now a days as various games do get the tag.

I feel most trainers are essentially sandbox games depending on how it was developed, however the more traditional I would expect it may have a strict timeline to complete your training so it is not fully open and unless you know what your doing you'll likely fail the first few attempts. I also feel that traditional trainers would have both + and - for stats depending on what your doing and you need to manage mutliple stats like Love / Corruption / Heath / Sickness etc... with them going up and down depending on actions. Where as most sandbox games is just doing X over and over to get the +love points or +corruption up with generally no changes to other stats to manage.

That being said one game I'd consider more of a traditional trainer that I've fully enjoyed was Monster Girl Club Bifrost, it is mainly training your workers to work for you while working to save money which will lead to various ending. I really enjoyed this one mainly because you did get bonus for the next play through depending on how good/bad the previous one went so it made things a bit easier instead of always starting from scratch. Generally the others that I've tried that are bit more what I'd consider traditional I either gave up on or beat once and forgot about it.

For some that are mostly a split of Sandbox/Trainer, the games that were developed by Pent Panda were pretty good for a single play though or at least until you've seen all the scenes. There were not overly complicated but were well put together, there are some that are weaker as well then the rest but they were all quite refreshing in their own way.

For ones that have slight trainer but are really more story and sandbox focused, I'd say Harem Hotel, or The Headmaster are good examples. Although these are a lot slower to develop compared to a others, as both of these are still in development and who knows if/when they will be completed.
One that is complete that I didn't mind that has the trainer tag was iNSight of you, it was done fairly well and it is easy to avoid NTR with the main LI and the side LI. The main focus of the game is corruption story done though some fairly traditional "trainer" type things although this one is still more of a sandbox than a traditional trainer.

i like them. im big into management type game. so trainer were an easy choice for me. though it does annoy me when the developer gives to an event you fail no matter what you do to progress the story or whatever.

I like them but my main problem is that lot of them are just so boring in terms of what they allow.
What is the point of TRAINING someone, when last thing, the entire training is to allow anal sex.
That's it. Starts with a handjob or whatever, ends with anal.

Instead of pushing the boundaries further, getting kinkier.
