I recently saw the game Double Homework. Visuals look great, but the motherfucking thing has 19 chapters. Each a different build you've to download separately. Why would anyone play that way? I don't mind a long game, but keep it together. Jikage Rising also has episodic chapters, but each one is a game on their own. Meanwhile Four Elements merged them all together in a peak game.

Am I alone in this? Would you guys play a game in different parts?

It might be too big to have as one total game for download purposes. I personally don't mind split up games if they're easy to locate and transition between each chapter.

I've never head of double homework before but spliting your game into 19 separate parts to download seems like absolute insanity to me

It's ok as long a you don't have to download another episodes every 10-15 min of gameplay

It might be necessary, haven't played Double Homework past chapter 12 or something, but it might be warranted if changes to the gameworld/storyline are too big. It might also be a good way to set a work pace for the dev, to be able to 'close out' a game and then starting on the next iteration 'fresh'.

is double homework one of the games behind member+ didn't find it when I searched for it

I enjoy them a lot more than the alternative: endlessly update games that add barely add any content to the massive amount of characters that have shown up over time.

I'd rather get a episode: This episode you can fuck this guy! Done, i know what i get and i don't have to grind for hours to get there.

Definitely better alternative to having to download the entire game all over again for the latest updates.

Double Homework had to be cracked, so it wasn't readily and widely available at the time of release, it should be available now though as it has no content which should leave it in Members+.

I see I only searched here so it might be on fuck95

I try to steer clear, especially if the chapters are not stand-alone games because then it can be fiddly to import saves and whatnot

To answer the question on this one, the chapters were more prevalent for certain websites to play the game online in the browser.
Dating My Daughter and Double Homework were made by the save Dev/team, so that was just the route they took to allow people to play each chapter.

They can be enjoyable, but only if it's something you want to commit your time towards.

It isn't too bad if done well. The problem with the VN maker that did "Double Homework" is that saves have to be manually ported to each new episode. Good news? You have historic saves at the end of each episode that you can use for branching. Bad news? If you do any branching, you have to take the time to port over each path with each new episode.

Also, because this VN is on a heavily modified engine, no one has made the effort to put together any kind of walkthrough or other types of mods many people like to use. This specific VN has an epilogue that you can't get to since it isn't public, and since it is difficult to crack (though their current VN has been).

To me it's simillar to Chapters :)

I typically don't vibe with them. They just turn into micro games where it's like.... Forget it I'll just skip four updates until there is something worth downloading

Depends on how long the chapters/splits are. Like Fetish Locator split was fine, but if it was shorter than that I'd probably get annoyed with multiple downloads

I don't mind it as long as it actually gets finished. I sometimes wait for all episodes before playing
