Never really understood why devs make sandboxs, the concept is a failure yet they keep doing it.

My opinion is that they are a failure and that they break immersion, point and click on the other hand are a very nice addition to visual novels.

Agreed, don't see the allure here at all

it really depends on the game and not really worth it in most games

Totally agree with this.
"You can do everything you want", yeah...but who care going to a coffee shop to buy expresso in a porn game?

Sandbox is a cool genre, but not for games from lewdcorner

I always skip unseen text just to see if it has animation on seggs

Sandbox games aren't everyone's favorite because they can feel aimless.

It never ceases to amaze me, how many people on sites like this demand developers cater to their likes and dislikes!

It depends, it's bad if the game has a lot of useless things done with it, but some games I can't see how it would be done without it.
like how would you make one of the popular sandbox games without?

its indeed one of the reasons why i skip a game

It is my opinion after all, I am not asking anyone to cater my likes and dislikes, though I have yet to find a game where sandbox works well for it, every such game I played gets to a point where it is just exausting to play it (repeated text, scenes...)

I mean, games are made for an audience, and those will have something to criticize - thats not even something that should be frowned upon

Are we talking AVNs or are we talking AAA games? Cause if it's the former, it's because of inexperienced devs with too much ambition, and if it's the latter, capitalism.

A "day without end" syndrome.
Doing the same things and same texts every day, I understand your position.

The biggest issue most with sandbox games is UI and gameplay. Too many sandbox games have awful room to room movement and the over reliance on a map just leads to worse interactions. Another big issue with sandbox games is that most of them have a world but have little no interaction with the characters within it. Like yea I can peep once for each character but is that really worth the hassle of building an open world. Summertime Saga is one of the best "abandoned" sandbox games and games in general.

Ahh I get it Sandboxes in VNs I agree it doesn't work it will require serious work to et it to work properly and what I am saying on a scale of 500 to 1000 times bigger than what has been released. and that may not even be enough. I figure years away before we get some form of framework to make it work in a VN.

if sandbox = grind, then the creators should burn in hell and if there are no great sex scenes behind this grind, they should be "used" by everyone in the seventh circle of hell
