I didn't know the best way to word the title- but what's the longest you've gone between game updates and been able to pick up where you left off, no problem? I don't know how common of a problem this is, where old saves corrupt, or you have to kinda gap them to make it work. Like, I feel like I tried to skip 5 updates on Summertime Saga and it grey screened me, but if I downloaded in between, it was fine?

I just started Corrupted Kingdom again, and looking at the gaps, I played v4.5, skipped two years to v15.9, then another 2 years to v21.5, and it seems like it works fine? Mythic Manor, too, I didn't play for a couple years. Gonna try Photo Hunt next, with the latest update.

I mean it is not like there is any reason for most VNs or kinetic novels saves to stop working. They don't have any gameplay that could change to invalidate previous saves.

i tried to wait and let it update more but I can’t resist since it’s too good game name: Long story short

Corrupted Kingdoms is my first thought, simply because the first act I don't think has ever been touched. VNs it doesn't seem to matter unless they just go in and revamp it. But when that happens I often don't bother going back in.

Doesn't matter to me as I delete most saves when they get to large.

So I usually just restart games most of the time when updated.

I think 3 of my favorite games that i need to start again bc too much time that i really forget about the plot:
Heros harem guild.
Harem Hotel
Twisted World (Bc the dev start again with a rework for all the game, i cant complain)

Of the games I follow, Summer's Gone has the longest update cycle. The others are within 1.5-4 months. So I keep all the saves of the games I follow in development at my fingertips.
On the other hand, I can't imagine how Summertime Saga fans act...

Making A Mark
Torrid Tales
City Of Broken Dreamers
Bad Memories
The Spellbook
Lida's Adventures

I think the oldest was one and half year for game called Summers gone

Red Room, and Bones Tale manor. Literally years between updates but they do enough changes to mess up the save.

I think it was something like a year and a couple of months. It's 1 dev/guy doing everything. Have no problem with it.
The dev is in constant communication. The Update(s) are HUGE, so you will be playing for a few days but most of all it is and always will be free for everyone.
The release date is the release date for the public. If you want to support him, He will love you for it and finds that great, but besides access to a preview render and progress reports on his patron there are no perks there.

for me it is friends in need or but im the bad guy those games take several months

Corrupted kingdom got a total overall because he could not pay for the models used so he had to make is own if you can find a copy of the first few releases and compare you will see. This invalidate all saves after a long ahaitus.

It happens to me often, that I skip several updates. Sometimes when it happens and I lost the track of the game, I don't use to play it from the beginning one more time. I may end playing a speed run just to check the new spicy scenes.

Of the games I'm keeping an eye on is Amnesia, the saves from 2022 work there.

What game in this category you give a One Piece moto "just end already" to for this year.
What game you would love to see concluded the year
