Long form or short story type of VN, what do you prefer more?

Prefer long as long as it's not forced... some games feel like they just drag on and on for the sake of doing so.

So for me, I can enjoy a short smutty game. Even if most of it is bad. As long as the smut is good or maybe there's a fun gameplay element or humor, I likely won't regret spending the time. Now a long game has to be good for me to devote the time. Ideally somewhere in the tutorial/intro, I get shown enough to know what's coming. The characters have to look good, have personality, maybe an interesting setting/plot, and a slow burn is great if it's meaningful, not just randomly spaced out, interrupted constantly, unfun repetitive grind, etc. A slow burn with a constant feeling of what the progression is and where you are in it.

I've played enough relaxing porn games for me to choose the lengthier option.

A long, well-researched story. I just love it when there is an immersiveness, a sense of belonging to what is happening. If these elements are present, then dozens of hours of gameplay won't stop me. The disadvantage of short stories is the absence of the mentioned components.

Depend is it long for world building character development etc 👍.

If it long for the sake of being long (Padding event, Filler story, Etc) 👎.

I'll play any of them, as long as they have sex and don't use filler like S.G. There are fans who defend that crazy guy who hasn't had sex in seven years. Nah, he leaves blue balls.

I generally prefer longer visual novels. They have more time to properly develop the characters, relationships, and overall story, which makes it easier for me to get invested in them. If I'm enjoying a VN, I'd usually rather it last longer than end too quickly.

This is especially true when it includes genres or themes that I really like, since a longer story gives those elements more room to shine and feel meaningful.

If the story is good, it can be as long as the dev have time and desire to make. Problem is that many stories are rather poor, have too little buildup and just goes straight to sex.
