Is there something funky going on with latest updates pages specifically for the restricted stuff?

I've noticed a few games now that had updates which never hit the page

It all depends on if the dev reported their thread or not after updating the OP. If they don't report it then there's a high chance it'll never be noticed and promoted.

Its weird thats its happened on games like such a sharp pain, which regularly were found on the updates page
