Hi guys, so my issue is the following

I try to open some games(Ironically, it is not all, just some, and some times they work fine, some times they don't) and the icon pops up with the game logo, but then it closes

I have tried running as admin, changing from 4k to 1080p, running as admin in 1080p, and as said, sometimes works, sometimes it just won't open at all

The traceback is the following:
can't change values before the start tiem of the current scene

Full traceback:
File "game/renpy-ActionEditor3-master/tl/japanese/ActionEditor.rpy", line 6, in script
old "can't change values before the start tiem of the current scene"

I really don't get what is going on, or why is it attempting to translate japanese if both the game and my comptuer are in english 100%

You wrote "games" but I see only one. I doubt the traceback is the same for all of them, unless all use ActionEditor3.

If you can access that directory game/renpy-ActionEditor3-master/tl you can simply delete it manually, since those are just translations for Japanese and Chinese which you apparently don't need.

Doesn't matter. When Ren'Py starts, it loads all .rpy files and if there is an error, the engine won't proceed.

I suspect Ren'Py fails to process the Japanese characters and that causes the exception. Removing the strings, files or the whole tl directory should do the trick. You can also try Locale Emulator or any other kind of locale emulation tool and run it that way, but I haven't tried that with a Ren'Py yet.

Those translators always mess up my pc too, i had to format my pc once bc of how much wierd stuff it installed and my ram usage was always on 100%.

if its a older game maybe try to run it in compatibility windows 7 mode, worked with few games for me before.

Compatibility Window 7 mode has worked for me too.

There is a windows defender toggle that disallows apps to write in user documents dirs, some games need to save settings there
