I feel like I saw tons and tons of fantasy setting porn games from visual novels to rpgs.
But I don't see enough Sci fi, is the fantasy overused because it is more common so you have an easier way to write the story?

Sci-Fi and fantasy are the same... one has magic the other techno-babble to explain shit...
One has elves and Orcs... the other has aliens...

Yes, it is overused but not as over used as some others, like college/school setting.

I mean it is kinda simplifying things but I was thinking of something more cyberpunk, I mean a good game is third crysis which shows a good Sci fi world

There essentially are only 3 settings Fantasy, modern and Sci-fi. Sci-fi may not be a third of all games but a huge proportion are. It depends on the engine but I'd argue there are more Sci-Fi games than Fantasy but there are many games with elements of both. Ren'py games seem to allow for better gameplay in a sci-fi world than something like RPGM which was purpose built for fantasy games back in the PS1 era. I'm not saying you can't make a Sci-fi game in RPGM, though.

I agree with you Ren'py games have more variety than rpgm game

There are plenty of sci-fi games, the kicker is that most of them aren't super high quality. I would recommend Tales from the Unending Void if you haven't played it already.

Yes I think, fantasy is used used way too much and it's disturbing that there's so much mix of unreal things and sexuality. Orcs and goblins are not sexy, fighting golems in dungeons is not erotic. At least make it not the majority of the game.

I feel while it overused, most of the time it just generic fantasy and they didn't put effort to be original or world building.

The nice thing about the fantasy genre is that it lends itself to doing things in a way that don't have to conform to societal norms - the rules of reality already don't apply, so throwing in magic or dragons or non-human females with great bods won't break "immersion" for guys who actually get that far into a VN. I don't consider myself someone that "immerses", but I do want a story to be internally consistent or it will annoy me. Variations on fantasy genres makes this easier on a Dev that wants to take a flyer on some aspect without it seeming entirely out of place.

Also not all sci-fi games are hard Sci-fi like he may be looking for. Fallout, Resident Evil and many other games are considered sci-fi but aren't in space. Ironically even starwars is more fantasy than Sci-fi in the truest sense but not everyone likes dune and starwars used to be universally beloved.

I agree with you and this is why I think fantasy is used alot but I want devs to experiment give me some dark dystopian future or a something similar to cybperpun 2077 or Valhalla cyber bartender in terms of world building

I've heard star wars referred to as a Space Opera, and ngl it fits

There are a lot of fantasy themed assets available for rendering, there are also a good number for Sci-fi. I think it can be easier to illustrate fantasy than, say, a modern middle american town, africa or the old west. That multiplies the work needed for these other settings and therefore is a barrier to making those types of AVNs.
So I don't think its a problem with people writing fantasy AVNs, rather the difficulty of quickly developing many other genres.

there's litterally a game where you're a cyber distopian bartender. its called Soccum Brewery or something like that. I think i could name like 15 games just based on fallout or apocalypses... on second thought there are like 5 or 6 games with pun titles based on fallout or an apocalypse.

i think goblins are sexy.

I like Science fantasy better but I've heard it called space opera too. Its essentially space wizards and magic everywhere. If they took out the space ships it would be generic fantasy.
