If you could choose any historical figure to have dinner with, who would it be and why?
Vladimir Lem is the antagonist in Max Payne 2. Had to google your guy though. Sure, he can have a like. Me, I have no idea. I wouldn't understand any of them. I'm waiting to see who says JesusVladimir Lenin. The man who changed the history of mankind.
Okay, I'll say it. I'd choose to have dinner with Jesus, and to be perfectly honest, why the hell would anyone choose someone else? Even if you're not religious, he's clearly the most significant figure in all of history. The historical evidence is fairly supportive that he existed, so regardless of whether he was really the son of/human incarnation of God, he'd still be the most impactful person that you could possibly ever meet. The only reason to pick someone else would be because you just heard some fact about whichever person from history and think they sound cool to talk to.I'm waiting to see who says Jesus
And there it is . Tbh it would be kinda cool to hang out with Jesus and get some hard facts in case some things were lost in translation. But like I said, I'd likely just be smiling and nodding coz I don't speak AramaicOkay, I'll say it. Vladimir Lenin was a Russian politician (1870-1924). Major historical figure and obviously the person that the Max Payne Vladimir Lem was based upon. And there it is . No offense meant at all. Apologies. I just thought it would be funny to see who mentions a religious figure on a porn site. I have nothing against any religion. I just used the most popular person as an example. I'm agreeing with you, it would be cool if there was some hypothetical magic allowing communicationVladimir Lenin was a Russian politician (1870-1924). I don't see what's so funny about choosing Jesus. You joke about not speaking Aramaic, but I'm pretty sure that the other posters probably don't speak Russian or Japanese either, so speaking Aramaic is no different. Pretty sure the idea is that by the power of hypothetical magic, you'd somehow be able to have a conversation with your chosen figure. Language aside, I'd be thrilled to know what reason Jesus is any more laughable though than anyone else other than just a bigoted contempt for Christians.
Fair point about the whole picking a religious figure for a question from a porn site forum. I was perhaps a bit overly defensive as Christians frequently get attacked rather unfairly and it annoys me as that sort of thing never gets a pass in other circumstances. No offense meant at all. Agreed. Not just with famous people. Even normal people of high esteem in a particular field or career. I have personally had a few drinks with people at the top of the ladder in their professions who are put on a pedestal by everyone in that profession. They not only turned out to be disappointing, they were also huge assholesFair point about the whole picking a religious figure for a question from a porn site forum. Aside from Jesus though, I could come up with so many people that I think would be amazing to meet, but would probably turn out to be disappointing. Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, Michelangelo, Beethoven, William Shakespeare... The list goes on and on. Unfortunately, I think a lot of the time people tend to be disappointing when compared to the image people imagine. You see it a lot with celebrities. You love their movies, but then find out the actor is a major jerk or super scummy or something.
The main problem with religious founders is that they tend to not be religious figures. A lot of what came to be our modern religions was formed well after the events we know about. The bible and Christianity for example wasn't established for quite a while after the death of Jesus, and whatever did happen was most certainly edited since just like the history of our modern day. Not that I'm an expert by any means, but I'd expect the same to be true of Islam, Buddhism, and many others as well.I think most religious founders would be interesting to talk to, regardless of if that particular religion is currently being practiced or has been long since dead, just to see what the true story is behind them. However, for personal interest alone, I'd say DaVinci.
Pretty much, that's why I'd be curious to talk with them. Did they actually attempt to leave a legacy or was it more of them saying "You should be nice to so-and-so, and here are my personal beliefs" and that later getting morphed into a bunch of stuff they never said or believed or whatever. Just curious about what happened between the then and now, mainly. The main problem with religious founders is that they tend to not be religious figures.
