Hey everyone, how many places have you "lived" during your life, so far?
Post a Number (#).
Let's make up the guideline for "lived":
I will use a basic one I came across during my life.
Lived in one place for 3 months or longer?
Meaning an address and/or location, not town, city, state, country, or anything else of the same. Some people have lived in many places but still in the same town, city, state..., include them all as sperate places when adding up your "total number'.
For example: if you live in 5 places but all of them in the same town, each one is a different place, so your number would be 5. Or say, if you lived in the same building but in 3 different places in that same building, each one is a different place, and your number would be 3.
I will add to my post more details, because I hope others will as well, and I am curious about other people's experiences, things like the # of States, and the # of countries.
*** Edit: I posted my # in a different post below but thought it should be in my OG post, so it is now...
Also, after talking to my mother about this, I just learned I need to add 1 more to my number. She told me we moved when I was 8 months old that I didn't know about. I will edit my post below as well.
So, 68 + 1 = 69
My number is 69
28 States
2 Countries
Now I am wondering if that number has any influence in my love for that position. Should I keep it that number now and never move again no, matter what happens...? LMAO
Thank you everyone for replying to my thread. I wasn’t sure if anyone had any interest in this subject or not.
I was just curious because of my history, and I am having a hard time figuring out where I want to live now. I have always followed work, going where I had to. Now I can live anywhere in the world I want. I just don’t know where I want to live. Even though I have lived so many places, I have not traveled the world. I have only been here in the US and in Canada.
"Military personnel":
Here is the catch: While in the Military, people might have/probably have a "home" somewhere, and were "deployed" at some point/multiple times, should all of the different places they "stayed" at while "deployed", be considered as "lived", and included in the "total moved number"?
I would like to have people think and consider any/all places where they "lived"/"stayed" for 3 months or longer as 1 place "EACH" when adding up their "total number". It still involves a lot of the same things as it does while moving your actual "home" and "Family" from 1 town/place to another. So, I like to consider it as a "move" as well.
And before you ask, no, I was never in the military. I have stayed on a few of bases over the years, but they were always for less than 3 months, and therefore, not included in my number.
But now, thinking about all of this, I am wondering if I these should be included and/or just mentioned, like a side note, and should I make an adjustment to my "total number"? I worked on boats/vessels for many years. Under my definition, these would all be considered as places I have "lived" as well, and therefore as times I "moved" when changing boats/vessels. I will have to think about this as my number will increase exponentially if I add them up and include them. That is if my memory is able to remember all of them (good thing I kept detailed records). These also are not included in my numbers at this time.
I will leave this up to the individual. People could specify if they included this or not in their "total number", if they want to or not. And/or they could just list them as a side note or something similar. Everyone should do you, do what/how you want to.
This is all about "moving", it is about "change", it is about "living" in different places based on your definition of "lived" and "moving".
Try to have some fun with this!
