How does profile badges system work?

There just cosmetic and unlock with each rank you purchase.
Member+ is the eye one, VIP is the glowing one, and the last one VIP+ is the running bear.
Each earned badge and rank unlocks more extras from the site as well.

Ah. Thanks that make sense. I wonder when the whole situation with coins clarifies will management introduce more strictly cosmetic badges for coins.
I think vip is more for customizing the profile, isn't it?

Yes you get profile customization's and the timeout on coin earning is reduced.

I was going to start a question thread on this, but this popped up when I used the name "badges" in the thread title.
I figured it was the mark of that particular level and wanted to confirm. But I'm wondering if there are also other markers - not just the those you noted. I present you the Postbit of @Hanz Feltersnatch and was wondering if we can confirm some things:
You must be registered to see attachments
As you can see, Hans has all of the Prestiges. He also has a red line below the bear, and a blue line below that. I also noticed them on @BeowulfKnight , who also has all four Prestiges. I'm not going to do an exhaustive search all over the site, but it seems they may be associated with P3 (red) and P4 (blue).
If these are, indeed, the marks given, it might be worthwhile to add that into the description of each item in the store, or have a single post with all of that pinned to the OT top, or similar. I did a search, first, and didn't find anything of the like, so if it does exist, it seems to take a bit of spelunking to find.

There are also the 5 retired donation badges, but they aren't handed out anymore, so if you see someone with those, they are the OG supporters.

Also a thing to note: Each higher rank includes everything of the lower ones. So if you only buy P4 and nothing else, you will still have access to games+, profile customization and so forth.
I was going to save up for P3 rather than purchase P2, but the sale came up today. I'll see what happens in the future, but it will take a very long time to get to 6,000 (assuming I hit another 40% off), much less the P4 level at any discount, based on my activity level.
