From my experience, with no experience of making games
With assets are currently available, you can make a scene in roughly 30 minutes. i was able to throw a couple of scenes together quick because i was able to understand certain things.

With no knowledge, i can see a scene being made in like an hour.
Add more time if they need to have a prop made, or certain object made if it hasnt already.
Add more time on animated scenes.
Once scenes are made to the liking, then come rendering. depending on the system you have rendering, at a decent resolution and graphics, can take about 3-6 hours.
More, if there are a lot of objects within the scene.
So with that info, you have to think about how some games are. the low end games probably took no more than a week to actually make. others like Eternum or TLG takes 3,4,5,6 months its depends on the scenes and what is going on with the scenes

If I can make a game anyone can. It's not hard it is just time-consuming. I might not have done things the best way but I spent a year saving for a PC that could render in that time I watched as many YouTube videos as I could find on how to use Daz Studio and how to code Renpy. When I wasn't watching videos I was writing for my VN. Once I finally got the PC I jumped head-first into making characters and location. I made tons of mistakes early on, but that is how you learn to get better.

I think it took me about 6 months to release chapter 1 for my game, but now it takes about 2 months for each new chapter. It helps that I had the entire story written out in advance, but that is not something you need to do. Just have a plan where you want to start and what your end goal is for your story. Start simple and branch out from there. If you have other questions feel free to reach out and I will do what I can to help.

depends on the quality level you are seeking. The programming shouldn't be hard unless you want actual game mechanics.

maybe it's worth starting with a 2d game? she seems lighter...

You can start by modding some gamed for yourself before creating a new one from scratch, try editing files and changing stuff ( variables, strings...) it's a good start I guess.
One you get better you can start looking at the 3D stuff

The idea

Coming up with an idea can take anything between 1sec and forever. I think its probably best to have an idea before you even decide that you do want to make a porn game. I started with the thought "I want there to be a porn game doing this stuff, but there isn't. Maybe I have to be the one to create it..?". If you start with a unique idea, you don't have to compete with all the other people who've already made games of a certain kind. There certainly are many people who could make a much better game like mine, but since they aren't, there are people out there happy that I'm sharing my creation.

Renpy

The default engine for a porn game is Renpy, and for good reason. Creating a basic VN with a few choices etc in Renpy is very easy. Maybe an hour to install things and read the tutorial, and then you can start.

The visuals

Getting started with Daz3D takes a few hours, mastering it probably years? I ultimately found it a bit overwhelming, but if you have just a little more aptitude or patience than me, getting some decent pictures out of Daz should be easy. If Daz isn't for you either, there are some either options. I've gone with modded Skyrim. Again, I don't have the patience and aptitude to make this look great, but it is certainly possible. If you utterly suck at creating pictures, there's still the real porn route. Do be aware that 2D pictures are harder to create than 3D.

The writing

How long writing the actual text takes you again will vary a lot from person to person. If it takes you extra effort to write mostly correct English with a somewhat well-flowing style, it'll take longer. If you have very high standards for your prose, it'll again take longer.

Overall estimate

I'd reckon that most people who really want to make a porn game can acquire the necessary skills in <50h.

How long does it take your PC to render a single image? Just to get a rough idea. I have some plots for AVN with repny, I'm already exploring Daz. I also have experience with 3D sculpting and topology modeling (blender) but I've never used Daz to create characters, I'm going step by step.

It really depends on the scene and how many characters are in it. I have some locations that are less than 5 minutes with 2 to 3 characters in them. Then I have another location that is 25-35 minutes a render with 1-3 characters in it. I render in 2k and it would be less time if I rendered in 1080p.

I'd say, if you have the right skills and you're willing to learn you can do it. You'd need to have a good story, possibly with a clear path from the moment you start so you know where to go, where to branch. This is the most difficult part I'd say (I've see poorly written movies from very well payed directors...). Then the coding, you'd need to know or learn how to code properly or consider hiring a programmer. Good visuals require a lot of skills and if you add custom music, well, it needs skills to. It all depends what would be the quality that you want. Are you doing it because you want other people enjoy your game or you want to do it for yourself?

If you want to make something fast then I guess a couple of hours should do the trick. That is if you've got some programming background.

practice makes perfect .. i guess

This. Seriously, THIS. It takes time, soooo much time.

If you do it, do yourself a huge favor and keep it small-scale at first. Just.... trust me on this, once you get the hang of things, you can expand your horizons and your stories, but go with a nice simple game at first.

Either way you'd need to hire a team to do extra things or it will take years to finish, oh yeah burnouts are fucked up, that's why there are many abandoned games by low-budget studious, solo indie developers are doomed to failure, just saying or it will be another low-quality-trash project out there with the price of 1$ to 15$

A mistake.
Unless you have skills to draw, 2D game is going to be several times harder to do. You will have to draw each of the scenes. There will be less scene variety because you in fact have to draw them all.
If you can, learn to work with DAZ or Blender. Then make a game using 3D assets. 3D is usually faster, more efficient, more flexible. You can also buy/download the assets from variety of places. Hell, straight up can download entire models of chars.

Then there's the mindset. You have to be passionate about what you do and be willing to dedicate years into a singular project. Because if you don't, you'll burn out.
I have to disagree with post above stating that solo dev games are doomed. They aren't.
You have so many games out there which have many devs working on it, yet they fail a single yearly update.
Sure, having a team speeds things up if you can afford it and actually trust your partners.

The answer to this question is too broad. It boils down to the scope of the game and the quality. If you do everything yourself from coding to art, something akin to those old Zone flash games with the buttons for different poses could take months.

we all know that at some point A.I. is going to make it a lot less of a pain to make games. not just the art part. Even if for now its for the most part junk.
If nothing else it can help upscale old games.

the hardest part for me was to settle on my software pipeline. for me at this point the best combination is daz+blender and photoshop or gimp for post work ( you could add marvelous designer for having realism on how clothes drape over a posed figure but the software is not free and you could have similar results with blender's cloth simulation)

you can cut many corners for assets, since lots of free stuff can be found online, or you could check on daz store where they often put offers of high quality assets ap to some times 80% cheaper. they also have weekly freebies but most of the time they are meh, though I have gotten a few good enviroment bundles like a motel a whole house worth of rooms, a bar and also hair clothes figures. etc.
a good starting ivestment would be generic body and face morphs so you can have an infinite variety of characters.

if you work alone then you have a lot of work in your hands but if you have a partner you best be sure you all are on the same page. nothing sucks more than people not being cooperative.

after that its all about you, your pc power and how willing you are to compromise on the end result. perfectionism works but you need to know when to stop nitpicking.

bottom line, game developing is pretty much as hard of a work as you make it to be.

It must be extremely difficult for ordinary people, a lot of knowledge about programming
