I need help keeping alerts highlighted.

5 seconds after opening my alerts the entire drop down windows stops highlighting the unseen alerts.

how can i make so that i can click on each alert & have all other alerts stay highlighted until they are clicked....... (one at a time as I read the post that I was alerted to)

it's driving me nuts not being able to keep track of posts / replies.

(it doesn't help that the hover color is the same as the standard color)
