While I enjoy 3D games, I believe Hand Drawn and Pixelated games are timeless, and will still look good in 10+ years.

Hand Draw will always have that extra charm to it but those ones are few and far sometimes.

As with everything it depends. Hand drawn usually get an edge, but the quality of illustration matters. Same with 3d, are they standard koikatsu renders or custom made blender models? Pixel art is not usually my favorite, but it has it's own charm if it's done well.

Yea there are some GOATED animations, but just seems more rare.

With the 3D, as the technology advances I think it's doesn"t matter what program was used, most games will look bad when you compare with the "new version"

It's like when you played those PS2/Xbox games and you got impressed with how realistic it was, but today they look like shit

Yeah, i wasnt even thinking about it that way, more from a how much soul do the models have. But you have a point, some new engine will come out eventually that will put everything we have now to shame.

I always think of the people who say "Goldeneye was the best shooter ever made!" and ask back "have you played it recently? it does not hold up."

If I would rank them, personally for me I prefer Pixel Art, Hand Drawn and then 3D in that order. Might be more biased towards pixel art and hand drawn since I spent hundreds of hours on Newgrounds and other flash games back in the day, think Mating Season and Imouto 2. Some of my favorites today include Daisenka and anything Dojin Otome. I also feel that since there are a lot less pixel art works it is often fresh to see.

Look at the end of the day 3D revolutionized gaming and it's here to stay.

Doesn't mean I don't like Pixels or hand drawn games there just not as good to me at least.

Hand drawn. Pixel art lacks detail most of the time and 3D gets somewhat boring after a while. Probably because of the repetitive animation.

Hand drawn and pixel art must be really good, with faces and expressions and not too cartoony because it's a turn off. Animations are a must unless there are lots of images and transitions and good quality writing.

3D models start to feel very generic after seeing them in many games (with exceptions that stand out, of course). In comparison, with drawn art, different artists have different styles and more varying skill levels. There's always something to appreciate with drawn art, and I don't feel the same way about 3D.

Handdrawn can be both very very good and quite bad, so its a category that I can neither love or hate. But if a game, with hand drawn graphics, makes it past .3 then its likely a-ok, or the game has something amazing going for it to alleviate the graphics.

I will always prefer hand drawn.
3D too commonly has repeat assets.

Hand drawn done well is the best.

3d does it for me and even better if it has some good animations
