Flow is a mental state that can occur while playing games. It's characterized by deep absorption during challenging activities that have clear goals and provide immediate feedback. They say it happens at a point of equilibrium between frustration and boredom (if the level of challenge is too far below the skill level of the player, you get boredom, and if it's too far above, you get frustration). This is why games with gradually more difficult levels keep players interested as their skill levels improve.

In a perfect flow state, the player loses all sense of self and time along with the diminished importance of other activities, including responsibilities (like your job, school, errands, cleaning up the house, self-care activities like hygiene, sleeping, etc.).

Have you found any adult games that produced a flow state in you? Please let us know which ones so we can get into them, too.

I don't know if it hits your definition exactly, but the first time I played "Abandoned - A tale of forgotten lives" by Kerni I felt near like that. Just wanted to play a litte at the evening and then stuck on the computer the whole night until I had to go to work the next morning.

i don't think the flow state really applies to most of these AVN/Erotic Games.

A key component of the flow state is to utilize skill to complete a challenging task. VNs don't present much of a challenge or enough active engagement to put people in that state of mind. i know i might be oversimplifying it a bit, but the process is pretty much: 1.press a button, 2. read text, 3. get a scene , 4. get your dopamine hit - rinse and repeat.

games like Honey Select are more interactive, yet again don't present much of a challenge as its more of a sandbox where you play with your virtual waifu. this next point is probably anecdotal, but i would like to point out an interesting phenomena where i have actually spent a lot of time and focus trying to craft a nice female model i would be satisfied with - this might be an aspect worth exploring - if people tend to be more focused in character creation than the actual game itself.

lastly, and again this is anecdotal, there are games (e.g. HTML games) that tend to be VERY GRINDY, requiring you to work (build stats, get money) before you get to a desired scene. i wouldn't call these challenging either, but these are very time consuming and require a level of focus to complete in a timely manner and get your scenes.

just my 2 cents

Fortunately, I was saved from such a fate. It was an elementary mental barrier - I never took computer games seriously. The maximum of uninterrupted time spent playing a game is 2 hours, no more.

There's not much flow when it comes to adult games, unless you count the flow that occurs because of said games. I guess most VNs can be considered going with the flow, as you're going with whatever the developer decided you were gonna go with.

Flow .. dunno. but if you mean the time just flies searching .. reading comments etc. then yes.

Thank you very much, @Wannabe, I searched here on LC without result, but was too lazy to search further. Next time will do it, promise!

adult games just cant for me idk maybe its my problem

I think there’s only been one adult game where I’ve lost my sense of time, and that was taffy tales. I would play for the whole day, go to sleep and play again for weeks.

But usually I only get this flow state when I play valorant. I just go head empty and turn into a head clicking machine.

I agree there are times when you can't stop and just keep playing.
