Prob answered somewhere else, but is there a good resource to build characters and renders with AI to more quickly focus on the VN itself? Let's say I want to build myself a a VN with Renpy as proof of concept. Devs, how would you go about it if you had to do it over or start with assets available now? I would rather focus on the story and not do the art, but still have decent quality art to keep from distracting from the story itself?

Don't expect to get good results with AI without putting work in it. People often say it's easy to make AI, but that's not really true.
You'll get at most generic AI images that won't do much for most people. And you'll get lucky if the characters look the same each time you generate a new image.

Look into LORAs, with stable diffusion, they can make it really easy to generate consistent images with specific actions, styles, characters. Not sure what the rules are on linking other sites here are but there are a lot of sites that host LORAs for whatever models you end up using. As the post above said, AI will require a lot of work, a lot of hard drive space and decent hardware for high res generation.
