• High Fantasy - Swords, Magic, Monsters, and Mayhem. The world is a fantastical place and we just live in it. Example: Lord of the Rings, Dungeons and Dragons, most Isekai settings
• Low Fantasy - Realistic world with dash of fantasy. The world is strange and you're just finding out. Example: Dresden files, Supernatural, Adam's Family
• Realistic Fiction - Realistic world with fictional aspects. Just making your way in the world. Example: CSI, NCIS, Suits, Burn Notice, Breaking Bad
• Post Apocalyptic - Scraping by in the end of the world. Survival after the end. Example: Walking Dead, The Last Ship, Attack on Titan
• Science Fiction - It's not magic, its science! Includes cyber and steam punk where fantasy acts are explained with science and techno babble. Example: Cyberpunk, Golden Compass, Journey to the Center of the Earth,
• Space - SPAAAACE! Basically anything involving the empty void. Example: Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, The Expanse

Out of these options, I suppose high fantasy. I really enjoy a nice slice of life modern setting though.

realistic fiction/low fantasy - simple slice-of-life without big evil antagonist, crime bosses, gangs, blackmail, debts and so on... there is plenty of bad shit in real life already, you still can get good story without all that shoved in just for the sake of drama

My favorite has been more slice of life types but i do believe it is because most VNs that are really good have been just that. If not that then SPACE! Sexy alien chicks are always good!

Realistic with a high fantasy runner up. Definitely love the college settings, but sometimes a medieval world with orcs and pixies is what the man down under needs to see.
