80s: Bon Jovi for sure, something about his style is just timeless to me
90s: Foo Fighters: lotta nostalgia here of long road trips in the backseat with their cassette going full blast
00s: Tie between Linkin Park and System of a Down
10s: Electric Callboy, their off the wall style and visuals greatly undersell how good their music is
 
80s Metallica
90s Megadeth (Metallica was starting to suck at that time)
00s Evanescence
 
I don't listen to a lot of the old stuff but

60s Lynyrd Skynyrd

70s Iron Maiden

80s Pantera

90s System Of a Down

00s Wintersun

10s Spiritbox
 
70s - Ramones
80s - Motorhead
90s - Nirvana maybe?
2000+ - none
note that Ramones went until the mid 90s and Motorhead from 1975-2015 (when Lemmy died.)

Lynyrd Skynyrd formed in 1964, but didn't have an album until the 70s, so they're more a 70s band. Iron Maiden more 80s. for similar reasons. I'd go by when they at least had an album, not when they were a bar, etc band.

Let's not get too nerdy about it, I didn't even know when any of these bands were formed and had to google it.

70s: Led Zeppelin
80s: INXS
90s: Radiohead
00s: Spoon
10s: Royal Blood
20s: Yard Act
 
70s: Genesis

80s: Michael Jackson

90s: Novembre

00s: Kayo Dot

10s: Dreadnought

20's upto now: oh boy, it changes on daily basis a.t.m. but to pick one, I would say Reliqa.
 
My problem is that my favorite bands/musicians generally span multiple decades.

Alan Parsons Project
Queen
Magnum
Billy Joel
Uriah Heap
and others

Don't like modern stuff.

Just a thought
