Im not a native speaker but I can manage when it comes to english but surely there are hundreds if not thousands of users who can't say the same, would they have to use google translate to meet the quota or wtf are they supposed to do?

I doubt there will be any relaxing of the rule for non-native speakers. If there were, the bad actors they're trying to prevent could just pretend to be non-native to get around them. I don't see any reason that threads can't be started and replied to in non-english though. I don't know if the mods will count it, but it isn't explicitly against any rules that I can find.

Great question! I wonder if the mods considered this angle when they put this into place...

I dont really think that this is an insurmountable obstacle to those that non proficient in english. I would assume that those who manage to be on and navigate the site would be able to make use of google translate for the necessary amount of comments the reach the threshold

Well i don't thing it would acctually work, it would make forums more annoing imagine 50 threads every single one in fucking Mongolian or Duch, it would get confusing, also i don't think there's enough Moldavians or Nepalese to make a thread in their own language :/

It adds a lot of extra overhead to the mods, though. Remember, it's not 35 posts total, but 35 MEANINGFUL posts. Even with translation, think how much harder that makes it to judge if the post is "meaningful".

Yes but to make a "miningful" message you have to respond in such a way that makes sense so a person that want's to do that would have to translate like half of a thread also transaling to some languages works like shit in google translate so it would make sentences that are incoherent

They can use Google Translate. Not that hard to do and we can usually understand what they are talking about. Usually. The same rules apply to everyone.

Use Deepl for translations. In most languages it's way better than Google

Not saying I agree with the current decision made by leadership. Just trying to be objective in the face of an annoying situation. Mods are already going to be swamped by all of this, without adding having to review 35+ posts in languages that they have to translate to understand.

Sort of, most people can figure out what you mean without writing things perfectly. And as others have pointed out, translation tools exist and are often good, or good enough.
