Because they're using assets, scenes, and animations created inside of a game that is itself separately sold on Steam by the successor of the company who created it (Honey Select 2). It's the same reason you couldn't, for instance, make a game purely out of screenshots from you playing Skyrim or Baldur's Gate 3, or The Sims, or something, and then sell it on Steam.

Personally, I think it's silly since Illusion doesn't even exist as a company anymore, but the Honey Select IP is still owned by someone, and it would have to be licensed by them to the dev trying to sell it on Steam, which they have historically never done AFAIK.

I love this game, it's slow like others have said, but it just does it for me. Akatsuka and Sarah are standouts. The writing and characters make this worth the time if your're looking for your next game.

No, why would it? Version numbers aren't decimals. The next update after 0.9 is 0.10, and it's out for Patrons already. The next update after that will be 0.11, and so on. This game is nowhere close to done.

I agree completely. With many VNs I get click-happy, but I truly enjoy the interactions. These are all characters that have personalities and that you can actually care about. Incredible writing.

If every VN can give players options to skip to the newest update content at the game start like this one,then saves compatibility won't be a problem.

Its a lot harder in games with choices that affect the story. Since this is a Kinetic Novel, there is no issue in jumping to any spot to begin. But agreed, it is nice that you can choose any patch to resume from.

There have been a handful of bug reports mentioned about days being messed up and errors happening, but all these seem to be based on people trying to continue a save. As long as you start a new game and jump to whatever day you want, there should be a minimal amount of game-breaking bugs.
