native 30 fps
2x interpolation with a 60 fps output
Overview:
This mod overwrites the native 30fps animations of the game with interpolated 60fps animations.
how ? Thanks to deep-learning processes, some trained models can interpolate "fake" frames next to native frames.
The result gives a smooth effect on each animations.
Apocalust is one of the few games made almost exclusively with animations, which makes this mod even more interesting.

Features:
- 772 animations have been interpolated to a framerate of 60 fps using deep learning processes
- In addition to a higher framerate, all animations have been re-encoded with optimized parameters that provide minor visuals enhancements such as : less compression artifacts due to VP9 encoding, less video noise and a relatively small file size
- Specific to the 4K version : all animations have been AI upscaled which result in 4K@60fps animations

Installation:
1) Just copy the "game" folder in the game directory, next to the .exe file
2) The new animations you copied have now priority over the native animations
3) enjoy

Troubleshooting:
Ren'py should handle well 60 fps animations and this mod isn't much more resources demanding than the native game
However, there are some scenes in the game where more than one animations are playing at the same time
you may experience stuttering/lag if your PC struggle to decode several videos at once
what you can do to reduce stuttering (not 100% effective):
- disable v-sync in your graphic card settings :
- set another renderer in ren'py : (Shift+G in game -> set another renderer)
- otherwise get a PC with decent CPU/GPU
4K version : I tested with my PC [Ryzen 9 5900X / RTX 3080] and I had stuttering in-game. However, playing the animations separately with my local video player looks great. Ren'py is probably not efficient with animations above 1080p.
Users with weaker PC components may also experience freezes and crashes.
