Curious on what people are running for commander and noncommander. Granted I haven't played in a hot min, but my fav commander is Tergrid and I commit war crimes with her with glee. Not sure about regular, id prob play some green stompy bois though and it would be subpar in terms of competitive..

I avoid WotC because of what they did to my D&D.

Its honestly a tragedy, but the writing was on the wall when they made mtg online super pay to win

Used to be but I hated what they did to it in modern times.

Modern and the power creep is crazy... might as well unban power 9 at this rate
It took me a minute to figure out WTF you were talking about... :D

O yeah, old school magic the gathering stuff.. ive been around a min

Also I hate print quality dropping, paper quality dropping leading to curling card, stupid story, Magic Beyond with random stuff being added that don't seams to fit the magic universe, Dumb gimmick realms like cowboys, cyberpunk, and mobsters sets like they are bored with fantasy, the story just about the same planewalkers all the time, retcons, the thing with them sending the Pinkerton to raid a guy, blacklisting Magic Artist due to poltics, art looking generic, and a few other stuff.

Tried to like it once. Delve deeper than realized is to expensive for real play.

I'm older than Led Zeppelin 1, but never got that into MtG.

The crazy power creep made it that if you missed a set then your deck is worthless. Old magic you can be gone for a few years and your deck world be still viable.

To me their story dropped hard once they made planeswalkers just super strong magic users... instead of the cosmically powered users that could do a infinite amount of things as long as their head wasnt destroyed...

Yup their cycles have gone crazy... all for more money and less sustainability.. now their stories are rarely interesting

I like it but well... not too big of a fan of the "gathering" part anymore

Same, I use tabletop simulator to play with folks. It also is easier on my wallet.

I agree with the criticism here but I still really like the Magic. Our play group just doesn't engage with stuff we don't like and we're pretty honest about the power level of our decks so it's a real dick move to bring a high powered deck when the rest of the group doesn't want to play like that. I get the argument of some super competitive people that want to have the best cards and make the best deck and faceroll - you just gotta find a play group that shares this view. We're more casual and I think we have more fun that way and if we think an expansion is cool we might buy a draft box or the precons to play otherwise we just ignore it.

I liked the play of the game but it became way too much trying to keep up with them pumping out sets every other week it seemed. Also the idea everybody making the same decks the looked up online is really boring.

I mean, how is that any different than paper Magic? Magic's ALWAYS been Super Pay to win...

Anyway, been playing since 2002. I'm even an L2 Judge. Hate what the game has become.
