Any interest in becoming a game dev?

Unconfirmed
I've tried to learn about coding with a few tutorial videos about Ren'Py but gave up a bit too quickly. I wrote the base for a porn-based corruption story with characters and their personalities, traits and what their personal goals were but without having any coding experience or any art skills/rendering skill I feel like I may be capable of writing some smut but am far from making an actual game. Have you ever tried your hand at game developing; and for any Game devs already out there, which part of game developing do you think you're strongest at?

I have yet to try making a renpy game but i do have experience in creating unity 2d games, made shitty platformers and a poor attempt at a vampire survivors like game.
what stops me is usually models and/or animation tasks

Before becoming a game developer, I had lots of free time. Now I have none. I used to be up to date with all of the newest streaming shows, all of the newest AVNs. Now, I only watch things while I eat lunch (at work) or when my wife and I watch something together. I only play AVNs while Daz is simulating, or while a batch of images are rendering and I'm tired of posing new ones. I haven't played a non-porn game in years. I just don't have the time any more. I have a full-time job and then I work on my games. Then I sleep and repeat. It's exhausting and leaves me with no free time.

I'm greedy, though, so I encourage everyone to try making their own games, because I want to try them!

And I'm still learning all aspects of game making. I don't think I'm strong at any of them. I still make mistakes all the time. I also HATE making animations. I swear they're more trouble than they're worth.

That's far more than i've done, sounds rad; keep up the good work. Also vampire survivors is like the most addictive game i've ever played, i love it.
Models alone seem so far off from my capabilities but animations seem incredible daunting.

I wouldn't mind, but don't have the time to learn and high end machine for rendering to do it.

I would love to give it a try one day

Things are always more difficult in practice. I'm a illustrator and I would be willing to do the art for a game, but just thinking about doing the technical part makes me lazy lol

I love this so much lol. I feel the same, there's so many more games that can be made, so many interesting stories and kinks to explore; i'd love to try my hand at developing at some point.

I should also say that the developer community is, as a whole, very helpful and encouraging of each other. There are some who are asshole, but mostly everyone is friendly and willing to help you learn.

I feel that, it's probably pretty hard to come together but a more team based game development process seemingly appeals to me; like I would love to write the dialogue stories themes etc. but anything technical or art related is just so far out of my domain. To the solo game developers out there I'm so very impressed

Coding can be rather daunting as there can be a lot to it but 3d modeling is interesting and i recommend you to try it out for a bit
you would be surprised at what you can do if you have blender and free time.

the basic of modeling is all virtually the same, you can move rotate or scale, then you can pull or push, add or subtract points, lines, or faces of the object until
boom low poly barrel that someone else can make in 5 mins compared to a hour or 2 but

its kinda fun seeing your own items start to come together

I'm thinking to make a VN with AI for images and Powerpoint as platform.

that's awesome; i'd be freaking out from excitement if I made that from nothing lol.
I just need to convince myself it would be alright to be really bad at it initially then I feel like i'd enjoy the initial struggle before some success

It all depends how far you want to take it. Basic stuff in RenPy even in DAZ is not that hard to do. But if you want something more, It gets way more complicated pretty fast :)

Programming to me is easy. I just have zero artistic ability. making the 3D images and making them presentable seems the most daunting task to me.

yeah I heard Ren'Py was a good starting point. I was able to code to the point of a title screen with a few lines of dialogue and a single branching choice but then the thought of branching those choices with stats and art and animations and music and all that good stuff that makes a game more than a story it just felt a little much and I went back to enjoy some high quality porn games on the forum lol

I make games in my free time though not anything porn related. I'm a programmer by trade so I often focus on systems and game design and leave the art to asset packs for my game jam projects. Haven't made an actual large project before though but who knows maybe I'll actually put more effort into the hobby

yeah it's hard to master all of those aspects (coding, artwork, story telling)...
