Next season releasing may 11th. Hope its good. I do like the new doctor, just worried the writing is going to let them down like it did during the shitnail era.

She was actually really great as the doctor, sadly the writing was horrendous for all of her seasons.

Fan of Tom Baker, and David Tennant. Watched it religiously until Jodie took the reigns. Capaldi was great, Matt Smith was great. The new one actually looks fun, i really like the new companion. Not going to do the whole Disney thing though, i'll find another way to watch it.

never watched Doctor Who. Kinda interested but don't know where to start. Asking to those fanatics, where should I and stop?

From what little I've been able to get myself to care anymore it sounds like the downward spiral will continue. It's sad that they have caused so much damage. I mean WHY did the put the writer of the LEAST liked episodes EVER in charge? I mostly blame Chinball for how bad it's gotten.

Honestly, the best thing they could have done for a Time Lady would have been to bring back Romana. They could have done either a spin-off, or set up a long arc where she seeks out the Doctor for answers or revenge. My personal preference would have been for her to be somehow injured and spent a couple seasons searching for the 'Fake' Doctor running around (with him as companion), only to be eventually healed by the Doctor. I mean they could have done some VERY good stuff with existing cannon and avoided so much of the damage.

I don't know how much I can make myself anymore. Guess I'll just live with my fond memories of Tom Baker from the original, and the early new series (so sad that Eccleston only got one season/series). Hmm, oh well, there were some good years before the writing took a nosedive so the memories remain.

Just some thoughts.

I'm cautiously optimistic. The new guy seems fun at least. I like Jodi as an actress but whether her fault or the writers' her stint as the Dr. wasn't much fun.

Longest running Sci Fi that was on before Star Trek, and most Americans have never watched it. Its like the grandfather of all tv shows.

If you want modern effects and quality I recommend starting with Eccelston at the start of modern Who. That will give you a good foundation. Tenet and Smith were very good. Sadly, Capaldi was far more hit or miss, and from what little I saw (and much heard) Whitaker was mostly BAD.

For old Who I HIGHLY recommend Tom Baker. I am biased as he is where I started, and he has some wonderful season/series spanning story arcs. I have heard (and seen a few) good things about Doctors 2 and 3 (never gotten interested in the first. After Tom Baker I don't know much that can help.

Everyone has a favorite Doctor (Though Baker tends to rate highest for original Who). I do advise to avoid LATE original as from what I understand it wasn't getting love from the BBC and was showing it's age.

Hope that helps.

I hope you enjoy. As I said it IS and old show so the F/X and video quality aren't great (it can get VERY cheesy), but the writing tends to be VERY good.

Remember, if you don't enjoy it there are the new Who shows to try. The writing is good for MOST of it, so please try it if Old Who doesn't work for you.

Hope that helps

Old Who is honestly kinda hard to watch. As in hard to find, and hard to watch through. I'd recommend ecclestone as a starting point

I was a fan from Christopher Eccleston through David Tennants run, stopped watching after than Matt Smith just came off as cringy to me

I am british and I am a little ashamed to say I haven't watched a single episode of it. Is it worth watching from the start?

Huge doctor who fan here though I started with 9th doctor the classics are my favourite my favourite doctors are Jon pertwee and Tom Baker. Wasn't to keen on female doctor not being sexist but over 50 years it's been a man then they suddenly change it and ignore half the traditions set in the classics and tbh the new doctor just seems ridiculous though il watch the fist season see if it gets any better though the Bi-Regeneration, was definitely a wtf are you doing moment

I dropped it when they had the Doctor ride into battle on a tank while playing a guitar and wearing sonic sunglasses.

What even was the 12th Doctor, seriously?
