Pirate until you can provide remuneration to the people in charge directly. Buy BDs/tanks from the source where/when possible, abandon the trashy licensors locally (fuck you Crunchy)

Some are pretty straight, so far as I can tell OceanVeil or whatever is legit, so toss them a few bucks now and again.

Well during my younger years yeah and when definitely 20 years ago licensed streaming sites/channels/platforms were limited and even their library selection were limited, some titles series back then even didnt have translations for them and fansubs were the ones doing translations, today Anime has became more accessible across different platforms officially even in (yout..be.) through licenses so support its accessible and if you cant really find it thats when you look for it on the other side. You still can support it by promotion thru word of mouth and their getting other merchandises as long as its official.

BD physical copies (bluray releases) even sometimes have extra animation, extra scenes, uncensored scenes or redone animation that was wonky from the original run.

I prefer pirating anime because, I prefer watching it in normal quality. If I happen to have the option not to pirate, then sometimes I don't.
