There's gotta be some good to insane games in the making atm, using AI yeah... and if there's not, there will be. AI is just a tool in the end, and it's getting waaaay better, if you don't believe go check civitai, and browse through last week's images.
My hope is that using AI will enable good writers to make games with good/unique art, who would otherwise be stuck using the same old awful basic daz or hs assets that we've seen a thousand times.

The question is how long until the tools are in final ready mode? And images are one thing, what about animations? I believe it will happen just curious what people think that timeline will be.

yeah... AI comes with everything... very good creations can be made with good management

Consistency is very difficult at the moment so until that problem is solved, its not going to change much from just using a nice model.

Agreed, it looks promising

I think it could easily work for basic visual novel games but we know animations take all games to being over the top, so we still got some time til we see anything worthwhile.

It'll be the end for many. Plug in and dopamine hits until oblivion. I don't think there's a general understanding that AI takes absolute connectivity to aggregate whatever your prompts are; no real anonymity and out in the either, especially once blockchain is the backbone. Analogue man, it's where all the hip kids will be

give it sometime A.i is still very young so there will be flaws at first

Generative tools are starting to be capable of video/animated sequences, but I expect that we will see generative 3D models that will, in turn, be used with DAZ, HS, TK17, before we see full 3D animated content from generative models.

There's already some really good games out there using AI art (e.g. Of Devotion and Despondence).

AI is a tool, and like any tool it makes it easier to do things. The overall skill floor to be able to make an adult game gets lowered, and the result is and will continue to be a flood of new works of which maybe 10% aren't crap.

I think the better AI generation become, the more effortless the majority of games using it will be.
Could it be used to create a good game? Definitely. Will it be? Most certainly. But more and more people will try to make games while doing the least work possible.

The biggest issue I see is if government try to shut down AI porn. They'll likely crackdown on AI child porn, but what about young adults? If it looks like a real person, but there is no ID to say if they are 16 or 22, will the government ban it? What about Asian women who can easily look much younger? Does that get banned? Small breasted women can't be generated with AI? I wish government would just fuck off, AI porn hurts as many people as video game violence does.

AI texts that I've read are now in the uncanny valley, exiting from that is usually not easy.
AI images will probably run into legal problems as they approach realism. Also, explicit models don't seem to be as well trained.

I'm a lot more interested in games that can use it to have dynamic content. Take any text management game and let it prompt an AI with the character's features, plus a random seed to make still have different characters.

You can run generation algorithms locally, I have a local install of Stable Diffusion. You have to download it and download training data/LORAs of course, but the actual generation is done locally.

Until something changes with the type of AI used for image generation, I don't think we're going to have the consistency problem solved. Diffusion models just aren't good at that. Maybe we'll see AI assistance in other tools? Like generating a 3d model for a character, or making textures, or a photoreal filter in post-processing.

What I hope to get with AI are extended possibilities. Not just a different ways to create renders. For example options to customize characters or even the backgrounds.
But of course, if nothing else, it could allow the devs to design a game much faster.

Maybe someday, when the average PC has access to a powerful AI accelerator.
