How does everyone feel about the 3D art games made in anime style? I've never liked it personally but was curious if I was in the minority.

I think its fine but I prefer games more on the 3D side without the anime aesthetic.

I love watching anime, briefly went through a hentai phase. I haven't played many anime style VNs but if there is an anal sex tag then I will probably play it. I definitely prefer 3d art though.

I depends, I find that usually it a mix bag on how well it down.

I think it depends on the game, but as long as its good I fine with whatever style

I like it because I can enjoy a bad anime 3d more than a bad Daz3d.

It depends on whether it fits the setting, I think 3D isn't bad, but I'm more for drawn/anime style
but different style
aren't bad either.

It's not my favorite but I also don't hate it. These types of games are made by amateurs , you always go in with a different attitude. But then again I don't mind the style in non-h games either, so maybe it depends on how comfortable you are with the anime style in general.

The most surprising thing about these games is how much slack you can give a game if you're really enjoying the story and/or game-play. I had played enough Illusion games by the time i found renpy visual novels that I didn't think I could ever enjoy those made with Koikatsu or Honey Select assets, and I was wrong.

At the end of the day as long as everything else is well done, it doesnt matter to me, well..... as long as it doesn't look too bad.

I prefer traditional cel based, 2d handrawn and shot on celluloid 35mm or 16mm film.

I'm fine with the 3D anime Art-style. It can be pretty decent.

i like the anime art style if there is animation involved, if not i prefer the 3D style

i have seen really good 3d art. i have also seen some so bad that it makes you want to pour bleach in your eyes.

I like 2d better, the anime look suits 2d, but sometimes 3d can surprise you

not the biggest fan. i dont think anime translates very well to 3D. the 2D style i find translates best to 3D would be western comic/disney animation style. i think the fact that anime faces have a sort of flatnes/stiffness to them compared to the rounder more expressive western style has something to do with it

This aligns somewhat with my own thoughts, I think it's kind of difficult to translate an anime art style into 3d, especially for an indie dev. It can absolutely be pulled off, game studios in Japan, Korea & China have become fairly good at emulating that kind of eastern art style into 3d games, but you need more than good 3d models to successfully sell the effect.
