Yup, I think this is the biggest thing. Why bother optimizing, compressing, and removing unused files if you don't have to? Ark had a filesize of like 400GB if you had all the maps installed.
Overall the system just seems more effort than it's worth. Getting the coins from this thread or others isn't hard enough to justify a complex (or really even simple) system as an alternate/addition.
