Well a working raid1 configuration will be 100% better than whatever was in place before. Would still recommend some kind of extra backup, can be heavily compressed, which is stored in another physical location. Thanks for the update.- VSCDB

Yeah some kind of home lab for testing would be the right move, or just having solid backup systems, with daily, weekly or bi weekly backups or a RAID configuration. This is I think what surprises me the most, since this is pretty standard.- VSCDB
