If something looks interesting I'll bookmark it with the label "check back" and then look through that list every so often. If it looks *really* interesting I'll download it and give it a try.     For the girls I usually just use the name the author intended, unless it's something that just rubs me the wrong way. When you can rename the male MC, I usually go with "Dick Anus" because I have Beavis and Butthead's sense of humor.

    Like most replies here, it really depends on the game. I'm all for having a well-written story, but if the exposition just slogs on and on I'm going to skip. For Ren'Py games, I also tend to take a peek at the source images/scripts first to try to gauge whether I'm going to waste my time.
