I enjoy slow burns if they don't try to do too much. A lot of them try to pad with more and more side content without progressing the main story, which can lead to too many characters in general, which can then lead to a lot of those newly made characters not getting equal attention or a...
I think my ideal game cares more about telling its story than having "gameplay". I like when games have choices that matter instead of needlessly grindy minigames to get money or train stats. Sandbox games are typically the worst offenders on that front, but not all are the same. I think kinetic...
Hand-drawn has the best potential, with 3DCG having more consistency throughout. Hand-drawn has a big negative if the team loses an artist, then they have to hire another artist with either a similar style or they have to learn the other artist's style, leading to at minimum a visible change in...
I don't like voice audio, but do typically enjoy a lot of the music that is put in. An exception is overly obnoxious jumpscare levels of music when you launch a game, I HATE that. A few games I've played have thematic music that really complement what's going on in the story
I agree with this, some really do have cool plots. The Company and Become Someone are a couple I can think of, but honestly they may even be better off just having no RL images and being purely text based. I can't say I particularly enjoy RL, but they're okay.
Honestly? I think I'd prefer abandoned over a rushed shitty ending. Sure you get closure, but at what cost? Plus, if it's abandoned, it could come back to life some day either through the same dev or somebody else picking it up and giving it the ending it deserves. It does feel bad picking up a...
OutGEEK? I preordered the Final Fantasy 14 TTRPG they're releasing and already have a group together to try it. On the TTRPG side, I've been on a kick trying to make a rage alchemist, kind of a mix between the Hulk and Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde kind of character. Hard to balance though.
From what I've seen, F95 has a much louder (and larger?) base than here. Can't say I've really interacted with it, but I've lurked there a long time and seen a lot of things get taken down or deleted that probably shouldn't have.
I like shorter update cycles if the game is newer, as it helps build a consistent foundation for the dev. The more content the game gets, the more feedback the dev can receive from their base. Depending on the game's focus, bigger updates with more content for more characters can be preferable...
I agree with this. I try to support those that I feel are heading in a good direction or have consistent updates and take feedback. It's tough to support a developer when you don't know where they're at in development or if they'll just stop updating the game for months at a time. I know they...
In no particular order:
Such a Sharp Pain
Superhuman
My Best Deal
Lust Academy
WVM
Being a DIK
Devious Worlds
Urban Demons
Parasite Black
Mostly I just like games with interesting stories/themes. Looking good is fine and good, but if they don't tell an interesting story or have interesting...
Renpy and HTML for me. I've had mixed results with others. Unity is a cool engine, but I feel is hard to utilize with how small the teams making these games tend to be. Unreal could be amazing down the line.
