I think that sandbox is fine. There isn't that much repetition and if you don't take every update there is plenty to explore naturally. It really helps that it hasn't that many regions and you can traverse them pretty fast. -

Yes, the Dev also has a family game, called "Father Figure" that is worth checking out, if that is your thing. But be aware it isn't far into the story and the Dev isn't the fastest with releases. -

Only played the first entry in the series. It was okay and you could feel the love for Old Trek. Skipped the second entry because all the New Trek kind of killed my interest in Star Trek. -
