Crimson High is my current favorite. I like the world building. It's one I passed over at first. Recommendations from these forums convinced me to give it a second chance. Glad I did.
Are there any effects (sound effects, visual effects, etc.) that are used in games and movies that can change the tone of a scene entirely?
For me, the Wilhelm scream can turn any dramatic moment into a comedic one. I can't help but chuckle when I hear it. It goes back to when I was a kid and...
Dark chocolate
Licorice all sorts
Can't remember the name: it's coconut and sugar in 3 colors (brown, pink, and white); I always thought of it as bacon
The third round of "I reworked the start of the game to change it completely". The first rework is understandable as better ideas for the story or how to build the game come up. The third restart is frustrating.
I also don't like being forced into a route that adds nothing to the story and...
Divi-dead. The main story was pretty solid. It kept me going to see what would happen. It was the endings that felt rushed and didn't feel like it wrapped anything up, just brought the story to an end. The game mechanics were weird. The main mechanic for choosing between 2 main branches involves...
I forgot about Shark in the Lagoon. Every now and then I stumble across VDateGames, and I remember that I used to use that a lot. I'm wondering how many other sites I forgot about. Ah, memories.
Robin Williams. His humor affected mine. Also, when he talked about serious stuff, it was deep. It was philosophical. Most people remember him as a funny guy (he was), but his views on humanity were just as relevant. Basically, it boiled down to "Just be nice to each other." I'm still sad for...
My first game was probably one of the Meet-N-Fuck games on Newgrounds. I forget the game that made me search for other sites. Probably Marblesyrup's game re:Maid. That led me to the site that's not popular here (starts with a letter after E and a number after 93). Somebody there mentioned this...
If the description sounds good without being vague, I jump in on the first release. If the write-up is lackluster, vague, or sounds like 5 other games, I wait for the version 0.03. By that point the dev usually knows if it's something they want to stick with or if they got bored/frustrated.
Abby is my go-to name for a female protaganist.
Otherwise it varies from game to game. Like for Dating My Daughter I named her Tess. For Sunshine Love, the sister was Chloe and the cousin was Daphne.
Daphne was probably from Scooby Doo. Redheads. They're a weakness.
It's definitely a slow burn kind of game, but I'm not complaining. It feels like realistic conversations with the information dumps or all of the action coming out of nowhere. I like that it keeps me in suspense without dragging things to the point that I get completely frustrated.
Loved this game. It's one that made me interested in the characters instead of just following along to see where things go. It gives the feeling of active involvement. I like that a lot better than "just click to proceed".
I love how the characters have deeper thoughts than "the plot dictates this is what I do." It makes it feel less tongue in cheek like they have thoughts instead of being mindless dolls.
