That was added back two versions ago, do try to keep up.
It doesn't "restore" anything.
This update changes days 1-3 (higher quality renders)
I use Max.
Reason:
Games usually say "Enter a name with a max of X characters"
So I just used Max and it stuck for every game.

The Personal Assistant (the original one by: JL Creation)
That was the first darkpath game I played, and it's what gave me the idea of adding the darkpath into my game.
(ofc my darkpath is not a "true" darkpath, it just gives alternate routes/scenes and not a "rape everything that moves" type...
From my own experience I would disagree with that.
I did write the first 5 days before rendering, but as I was rendering and saw my creation come to life, I decided to change something (to improve the game) and ofc that had a knock-on effect and changed everything else that I wrote.
My advice...
Just bear in mind that Renpy8 doesn't support 32bit.
Sure, most people that have a PC these days have a 64bit PC, but there are quite a few people that do not.
A fair few of my subs only have a 32bit. It's why I use 7.5.1.
Indeed, but if people use a VPN, then that's on them (the individual) as the site has complied by restricting content from being access in that region.
Websites have to comply with the laws of the country that it can be accessed from (it's why region blockers are a thing).
Who cares if it complies with the laws of where it's hosted, if it doesn't comply with laws of... let's say AUS as an example. then shit can hit the fan if someone reports...
Don't think donations are even needed at this point to keep the site running.
Crowley stated on Discord that the costs to keep the site up is $200 a month, and with all the donation goals that happened.. The site should have enough money to stay up for the next 300 years.
TBH, all this Member+ stuff with locking down the front-end doesn't really do anything, as the host can see the back-end whenever they want (as they are the host).
So people can still report things to the host and the host will just poke around in the back-end to see what really going on.
(Same...
It allows for jump cuts within a scene ;)
An example:
If you're doing someone missionary and want to do doggy, then add a single choice option "Do her doggy", then the scene will change to a doggy style.
(makes it easier than rendering the change over)
Another reason why it can take longer and longer per update as the game goes on is due to additional paths that choices make.
An option with 2 choices creates 2 paths, then those 2 paths would lead to other choices.
2 paths with 2 choices each leads to 4 paths, then those 4 paths would lead to...
