The grind/repetition got boring quickly and after reading the comments I gather not much has changed. Good content is thin atm so I might try again anyway.
Has AI changed the game for developers (can they use different engines now) or is it mostly used for graphics? I always thought the big advantage of Ren'py is that it's easy to use and the small file size. Other than Unity, are there more alternatives now?
I figured that would be the reason it's rarely used. I also often forget how much work goes into game creation. That'll be probably one of the main advantages of AI, although I hope people will still be making stuff by hand. Becomes increasingly harder to tell the difference though.
Having recently played a couple games that had a lot of RPG elements (almost like a Final Fantasy lite), I (re)discovered how much more I prefer these to regular VN's. Still, if the kink is right and the graphics are superb I'll play it.
Not sure if I'm the only one, but I feel "sweat" is really an underused (visual) element. Probably tricky to get it right and not be weird or off-putting, but if done tastefully it could make a scene more visceral or natural. I have no artistic skill whatsoever, so no idea how hard or tedious it...
Always a great theme if done right. Your thread made me realize there aren't that many games were this relationship is explored in depths. So any developers looking for inspiration, that's the type of content were there isn't already too much of. Does Midlife Crisis count?
