I llok at the tags first, then the preview pictures. For low ratings, I read the comments, with the caveat that new games wont get a rating yet.
Often, if a game appeals at first sight, I'll try it and form my own opinion.
Like all whiskies - Scotch and Irish - blended (gulping whisky) and single malt (sipping whisky). Hate Welsh whisky, hate bourbon, don't like Japanese. However, the Swedish make a passable one.
Horror and porn normally remind me of a throw-back to old B movies (Brides of Dracula sort of thing, with naked boobs). Normally they should be kept as separate topics, but some games manage to pull it off - Ravenous and Malignant spring to mind.
If its a game worth playing, then I'll fast-forward on auto, from the start. Its just a pain when you have to make a choice and you can't remember what the dialogue is beforehand, to determine what choice you need to make. At this point, I backtrack and try to halt before the choices. to read...
Concur. Ending rushed (but in view of the lenthy delays between updates, needed to be) and it shows its age a bit now. However, it was my first VN, so have a soft spot for it.
