Yes the amount of Backlash to this sort of behaviour is lackluster at best. I choose not to buy that sort of money milking. Period. -

When you look at indie games price, it gets difficult to justify paying a 100 bucks for one game when. You could get 10 games or more with at least 10 to 20 hours of gameplay for each... Sure I loved every GTA games I played, but man no way I'm paying this price, it's just a pretty bad deal. -

Sandbox games is really hard to pull off as other said, because it's quite hard to make it filled with actually interesting thing to do. Instead, most of the time it's just that, filling... Better have a small sandbox game than a large one, and few but well made mechanics than many half baked...
