It's definitely appreciated when a dev puts some time and effort into character aesthetics, and doesn't simply reuse models that are common in these games.
I only had one issue with this great game, and that's the oft-overused model at the front right of the cover pic. I'm not sure if she even looks human.
I don' t mind long dev times, but when there's only 2-minutes of new content each update, it gets frustrating. I'd wait a few updates before playing each time, so there's something worth seeing.
It's always a shame when games get abandoned, but I feel that sometimes, a game doesn't do enough to make itself stand out from the crowd. It needs to be exceptional in some way, or have something unique, to maintain interest and drive popularity.
Guardian scenes were good, but PL is far more intimate, rather than domineering. In one scene of PL, you don't even see urine, as she 'doesn't spill a drop'.
At first
I only just tried this one, and it was slow at first, but the story was well done, and while there was a lot of reading, it wasn't walls of text. I'm wondering if the lack of updates is because of the prequel work; maybe time is spread too thinly between multiple projects.
I don't mind the gameplay style, as I don't always need a VN, and I feel that unlocking the scenes makes it feel more rewarding. There is a hint system built into the game, but it doesn't seem to cover everything. I entirely missed the content with the adopted girl, so I'll have to give it...
I like this game, but the main character looks like an exaggerated caricature of my ex-wife, and that nearly kills it, but I'm thankful no one else here will have that problem! She was nowhere near as adventurous.
Honestly, the first thing I noticed about this one, is the longer story. This could actually be more than a 5-minute game, which would be a massive improvement.
There are a few games that have ren'py ports, and usually, it is to make the experience less frustrating for the players. I figure if someone goes to the trouble of porting your game to another engine, then it's a massive flag, that the original devs should probably take note of, and maybe do...
As someone that was lead-dev on a popular adult game, It will heavily depend on whether they actually have lives outside the game. Sometimes stuff gets in the way, sometimes it's just a hobby, and we need a break. Not everyone works on these games as a job.
