Just checked your example. I assume that was mostly a strange coincidence. According to a quick search it was due to the intro depicting real stuff happening at the time and some war breaking out at the same time. Thus the game getting close to being potential propaganda.

There are plenty games that I play for the story. I probably wouldn't play them without the NSFW part, but that's often just a nice bonus while playing.
Like mentioned in the main post, you need to put the .rpy file somewhere in the game folder of the game. That way it gets loaded on startup.
Could even make your own .rpy file which is just a renamed .txt with the code that's also part of the original post.

I enjoy linear games lately. I'm fine if there is plenty story, if it's good, I'll read and enjoy it but sometimes I skip forward to get to the fun content.
I don't enjoy sandbox games too much since they just deliver less content for more effort/time. I don't want immersion if it's just annoying.

I think AI animatilns look weird... but I somewhat hope they'll not improve. If animations become too good, it might be enough to scam even more old people. Imagine your grand parents getting a whole video call with your face in it... now that I think about it, this should already work...
