There's a couple that are good enough to bear it, but it's honestly a 1 out of 100 kind of deal. I'm rather happy I don't recall seeing much of that here if any. They'd just obscure the view on the good stuff ^^
I try to not skip in the beginning and get an idea if the story is going to be good. If it's good, perfect, if it's bad but the graphics are good, I skip, and tend to delete the game after. If it's clear at a glance that there won't be much of a story I usually avoid the "game" altogether.
I feel watching English movies with subtitles have helped me most. An additional tip, if it seems a little difficult at first, try movies that you actually already know. That might make it easier to figure out some words you do not yet know through context.
The devs, Project Moon, seem to have quite the dedicated fanbase. I haven't been able to understand why yet. I played one of their other titles, Library of Ruinia, but it didn't click with me.

Lessons in Love. It seems harmless enough at first but at some point it gets incredibly unhinged. So much so that I eventually just deleted it. Not saying it's the worst, 100% sure there is worse, but it's the worst I played.
My gateway drug was True Love, late 90's. Incredibly tame by today's standards, but what it had going for it, was that it was arguably an actual game. That's why even today I prefer games that one could play and enjoy even without the saucy stuff.
If you think [insert engine here] is bad, treat yourself to RAGS or QSP. Hands down the worst ones out there. If you can even get it to run in the first place.
