Sound on/off
It depends, a large amount of the VNs I've played use looping tracks that are annoying. I've also heard a few VNs use stock moans. I tend to give until the second or third animated scene if there are any. One that I really enjoyed for it audio was Projekt: Passion. -

You are locked 6 hours in a room and...
I'd go for the short one, my attention span makes me re-read a lot of lines, so that 1 hour game might last me 2 or 3 hours. -

How do you Sleep at Night?
I sleep in total silence. Also I was constantly tired even after 9+ hours of sleep, then I started taking Testosterone boosting supplements and have been waking up after 5 hours of sleep with no tiredness until the end of the day. -
