I'll never understand why this fetish gets so many people's emotions boiling. I too don't care for it, but it's like ... there are a lot of crazy tropes when you think about it. Reminds me of the appalled reaction to killing a dog in a movie where tons of people are brutally murdered.
It's a classic question. Did Irving Pulling kill himself because he played Dungeons & Dragons? Are school shooters created because they play Call of Duty? I think most people are "affected" by the media they consume, however you want to define that, but only rare, perhaps suggestible individuals...
Hereditary is a low-key masterpiece. A lot of people get it, they see that it's a good horror movie, but I don't think a lot of people truly understand just how good.
