Yep! I tend to just watch the "latest threads" and see where I have something to contribute. The image threads are also good, lot of free AI art websites. And somewhere there's a guide or discussion on that. Browse around, use the search function, etc. Lot of info and fun stuff here!
No video guide that I've found. There's a few "rules" pages, whether general forum rules, rules on image content, explanations of the shop/bank system, suggestions on how to get coins, etc . Just poke around, read stuff, and when you're comfortable, say hi and join in!

Okay. So parts of the site are unlocked with Activity Coins. You earn those by posting in threads (not just spamming) and by getting likes. Creating your own thread does cost AC, yes. The best way to grind is by replying in the Anti-Social and Lurker thread, various off-topic question...

I've been playing this idler called Your Chronicle. Probably not for everyone, but different from any other idler I've played. Also Surroundead, might be getting into an X-com phase too, can't tell yet.
You and me both. Messing around in Bethesda Creation Kit is one thing, but if there's not a GUI to do it, it just becomes magic. No clue how to even attempt.
I just don't self-insert automatically. Even if a game has a MC, uses first person, etc... it's just not attached to me, it's just a story about some characters. I CAN self-insert if I want to, but by no means is that an assumption.
