    I can't think of single game that's sandbox, that wouldn't have been (at least) just as good, if it was a linear game. Because it's almost always the case that the stories are told in a linear way, so that one must stop and wait for another to progress.

    For brand new games that look interesting I always jump in straight away to see if I like it. But if a game I know I like have a "too fast" update cycle with low amounts of content, then I'll wait for several updates, yeah.
