Why aren't more Linux versions available?

Reading through that thread I see mostly these points: Extra QA workload: we already established this is less of an issue if people don't expect a polished AAA title and are ready to provide feedback DX12 vs Vulcan / custom shaders: less of an issue since most games here don't use...

What do you hate most when it comes to the caracters??

Bonus if it's accompanied by a slow-ass fade transition that can't be disabled.

Why aren't more Linux versions available?

Congrats! I tried that myself and managed to get an export "working", but for some reason it didn't react to any input once in the actual game.

Why aren't more Linux versions available?

In case anyone got this far & is wondering why I'm not advocating for more macOS builds: blame Apple. They've made it almost impossible to compile applications for macOS without using a machine running macOS.

Why aren't more Linux versions available?

Ren'py gets away with it because the included run-time isn't a lot in relation. Just to get a feeling I went through my 69 nice currently installed Ren'py games and tallied them. On average, the Ren'py runtime + 2 Python installs take up ~16.59% of the total size, more if it's a short alpha...

Why aren't more Linux versions available?

The ease of porting in the "Indie"/VN space is exactly why I brought this up. I don't have any obvious way to actually count it, but my guess is that >95% of Games on this site alone are made with one of the 6 engines I noted, which means platform specific bugs will mostly be "don't assume a...

Why aren't more Linux versions available?

See the Reddit post I linked above. Linux users are few, but they provider more & higher quality bug reports than other platform users, by a large margin.

Why aren't more Linux versions available?

I like pointing people to You must be registered for see element. for that. 5.8% of players created 38% of bug reports, of which 3/400 were platform specific. Linux users are mostly technical literates who know how to reproduce bugs & write useful bug reports.

What do you hate most when it comes to the caracters??

3: The MC is a perfect Mary Sue/Gary Stu: perfect body, infinite stamina, perfect intelligence, and inherited wealth by suddenly becoming a full orphan right when the game starts.

Why aren't more Linux versions available?

Exactly. With Godot, it's downloading once the required platform templates & then clicking "export". It's an issue with a lot of RPG Maker games because the .exe very often hangs during loading (without any notification of what's going on) and the web-version assuming it's a case-insensitive...

Why aren't more Linux versions available?

@AlBetGam The things about Statcounter that irritate me are Reporting 10+ years old OS X as current and even rising, even as Apple pushes the current OS on all platforms as macOS The amount of "Unkown" even surpassing Apple devices @Kernist Which game & is the source available? Because if...

Why aren't more Linux versions available?

Basically, title. I've been on Linux (almost) exclusively for the past 15 years. I've fought with bad GPU & sound support (not just) in games running via Wine or Proton. I was genuinely happy about the Linux support rushing in when the SteamDeck hit & more software ran at least as good as on...
